이 게시물은 '홈통만화연구실'이 기획하는 《계간 문화다양성 추천만화》의 첫 온라인 책자입니다. 《계간 문화다양성 추천만화》는 계절마다 한 번씩 주제를 정하고 해당 주제로 읽어보면 좋겠다 생각하는 만화를 추천하는 만화 큐레이션 기획입니다. 특히 상업 웹툰이 다 다루어내지 못하고 있는 다양성 측면의 주제들이 책 형태로 나오고 있는 경우가 많아, 책으로 나온 만화(책으로 나온 웹툰 포함)를 소개하는 방식으로 진행됩니다.
이번에 홈통만화연구실이 첫 번째로 잡은 주제는 성소수자(LGBTQIA+)로, 성소수자의 삶과 고민에 얽힌 만화 스물한 편을 선정해 일원들이 리뷰를 작성했습니다. 성소수자에도 굉장히 다양한 카테고리가 있지요. 이러한 다양한 젠더 정체성을 담을 수 있고, 당사자성이 있으며, 이들에 대한 이해를 높이고, 또 성소수자가 아닌 이들에게 성소수자의 삶과 현실을 알아가는 데에 일종의 가이드가 될 수 있는 작품들을 고르고자 했습니다. 이번에 추천하게 된 작품이 이 소재와 관련한 최고의 작품이라는 의미는 아니죠. 다만 다 함께, 공공적인 측면에서도 한 번 읽어보실 만하다는 뜻을 담고 있습니다. 작품 소개는 물론, 이해를 돕기 위한 용어 해설 등도 함께 실었습니다.
