Bands of young men attacked activists, circling them one by one and kicking them until police intervened



Several people were reportedly injured, including some police officers in the capital's main square



Gay activists vowed to continue their struggle for democracy



Police were outnumbered and unprepared for the attacks


The march is one of several Gay Pride events being held in Europe this month
